The brief that kept growing
Candid Camera hires out photo booths, magic mirrors, selfie pods and audio guest books across Lancashire and the North West - weddings, parties, corporate events. The first job was the classic one: a website that turns "are you free on our date?" into a booking, at 11pm on a Tuesday, without anyone answering a phone. Prices up front, availability checks, and the client's own 5.0 Google rating doing the convincing.
Then the interesting thing happened. Running hundreds of events a year surfaces problems no off-the-shelf software solves properly - so we built the software. Twice.
Three builds

Measured, not claimed
Anyone can say a site is fast. These are candidcamera.co.uk's scores in Google's own Lighthouse test - on mobile, with throttling, the hard version - checked 29 July 2026:
Main content on screen in 2.1 seconds on a throttled phone connection, and a layout-shift score of zero - the page never jumps under your thumb. Don't take our word for it: run candidcamera.co.uk through Google's PageSpeed test yourself, right now. We publish numbers we're happy to have re-tested.
Same test on eventlayer.co.uk - the AI photo platform above: 99 performance, 100 accessibility, 100 best practices, 100 SEO, main content in 1.8 seconds. Honesty note: when we first measured it, accessibility was a 93 - two contrast issues and a heading out of order. They were fixed the same day, because we host and maintain what we build. That's the entire pitch, demonstrated.
And boothzen.com - the booking platform - is the before-and-after: it first measured 61, because even our own work drifts when a platform grows fast. A performance pass the same week (slimmer images, a lighter page payload, animation code the browser handles instead of JavaScript) took it to 89 on Google's own PageSpeed servers, with 100 accessibility. We publish the before as well as the after, because that's what looking after a site actually looks like.
Speed is only half of it. In Google Search Console, candidcamera.co.uk took 1,000+ organic clicks from more than 100,000 search impressions in 90 days - organic meaning unpaid results, a photo booth hire business found by people searching for one. The same local SEO groundwork goes into every site on our plan; that page explains how it's done.
Why this matters if you're not in events
Because it shows the ceiling. Most clients need a website that brings the work in - that's the £29.99-a-month package, and it's most of what we build. But when a business outgrows off-the-shelf tools, we don't hand you to a software agency: booking systems, client portals, payment flows and platforms like these are work we do ourselves, quoted properly as custom projects. Start small; the ambition can come later.
Run an events business - or any business that lives on bookings? See what we build, or tell us about yours. Already got a photo booth site that isn't pulling its weight? Run it through our free website check first - it tells you what's actually holding it back.
Photo booth website questions
How much does a photo booth website cost?
On our plan it is £99 to set up, then £29.99 a month. That covers a bespoke design, UK hosting on our own servers, SSL, a .co.uk domain registered in your name from day one, business email, unlimited content edits, support, and local SEO foundations with your Google Business Profile set up. Online bookings are a £9.99-a-month add-on if you want them taken on the site itself. Cancel any time with 30 days' notice and no exit fee.
Can a photo booth website take bookings online?
Yes. Candid Camera's site leads with prices and an availability check so an enquiry at 11pm still lands, and our online bookings add-on (£9.99 a month) handles booking on the site itself. When an operator outgrows that - deposits, balances, e-contracts, reminders, a CRM - it becomes a custom build like BoothZen, which we quote separately as a software project rather than squeezing it into the monthly plan.
How do you get a photo booth website to rank on Google?
Nobody can promise rankings, so we don't. What every site on the plan gets is the groundwork: fast, accessible pages, a Google Business Profile set up properly and local SEO foundations built in. Candid Camera's site scores 100 for SEO in Lighthouse and took 1,000+ organic clicks from 100,000+ search impressions in 90 days. If you want ongoing work on top of that, our SEO campaign is £99.99 a month, month to month with no contract.
